Lego just launched sub-brand called Lego Boost where the base set contains a combination of sensors, motors and a unique companion app that teaches kids how to code.
The set also comes with building instructions for five models: Vernie the Robot, Frankie the Cat, the Guitar 4000, the Multi-Tool Rover 4 (essentially construction-type vehicle), and an Auto-builder.
Kids can control their creations with an Android or iOS app, using a basic drag-and-drop programming system. Preorders will begin shipping in late July at the cost of $159.99.
Outside the well-known Lego Mindstorms, there’s also the educational WeDo platform, as well as newly announced support for Apple’s educational programming app, Swift Playgrounds. Lego Boost is far more limited compare to Mindstorms and costs a lot of money but it’s also pretty fun!
